E-commerce / Refill botanicals

A quieter storefront for bottles people actually refill.

Verdant sold amber glass, oils and a cleanser people already loved. The theme did not. We rebuilt the catalog around first-buy versus refill and let the photography do the selling.

The brief

What they hired us to fix.

The old theme weighed more than the products. Refills were buried two clicks under accessories, so repeat buyers treated the site like a first-time shop every visit. Mobile LCP sat above 4 seconds. Cart abandonment was 71%.

What shipped

The actual work.

  • Catalog split into First fill and Refill, with refill SKUs one tap from the original product.
  • Two-step checkout, guest by default, Apple Pay and Shop Pay on the product page.
  • Still-life photography system: one bottle, hard shadow, no lifestyle clutter.
  • Product pages rebuilt so the mobile image is the LCP element, correctly sized in AVIF.
  • Schema, redirects from the old collection URLs, and a 1.2s mobile LCP at launch.

What changed

Repeat buyers stopped getting lost.

Revenue per session rose 64% in the first eight weeks. The lift was not ads. It was refill SKUs that people could actually find, and a page that painted before they bounced.

“We stopped apologising for the website. The bottles finally look like the brand we already were.”
